if you can not find 3rd party cartridges (cartridges compatible with your printer that are not produced by the manuafcturer of your printer but by someone else) then refilling is the way to go if you want to save money.

I have tried refilling my cartridges before, and believe me, unless you are extremely careful, it can get a little messy – but refilling them is definitely the cheaper route.

As far as what is best for your printer, I don’t think either will effect it’s longevity, however ink from a refill kit may not give you the best prints.

Also (and this is just from my own experience), it is tough completely refilling the cartridges – after I refilled them, they didn’t seem to last as long. But that’s just my experience.

I personally have stopped refilling my cartridges and started buying them again – I just stop around on the internet for a while until I find the best deal (usually on Amazon).

You can refill cartridges a couple of times and save some money, but the print quality goes down each time the cartridge is reused, so after a few refillings, you need to buy a new cartridge.

Black cartridges are easy to refill. I have never had any luck refilling color cartridges.

Refilling, if done properly, doesn’t hurt the printer.

I would go with refilling. However, I’ve found the better way to do this is to take it somewhere to get it refilled. For example, Walgreens Pharmacies around these parts refill printer cartriges for a low cost. That way you don’t have to worry about messing it up, and its still cheaper than buying a new one.
