A recording and typing issue?

Asked by cgbodecker (2points) September 2nd, 2009

I want to record lectures during my graduate classes through garage band onto my macbook, and I want to type the notes through Word on my macbook, can I do both tasks simultaneously without the sound of typing interfering with the recording?

Maybe if you use an external microphone. You can’t really eliminate ambient noise.

I don’t think any program realistically has the technology to remove specific sounds from an audio clip, such as typing.

There are some digital voice recorders you could get (such as here). Just place it on the teacher’s desk or near where s/he lectures. After the lecture, just transfer that audio file to your laptop. If it’s not recording right at your desk, it won’t record the typing.
