Fluther query: Should there be a function to allow users to see when other users are editing their answers?

I’m sure we’ve all experienced it. You give an answer, someone answers you. You then craft an answer based on what they said. After you answer you go away for a while and when you come back you realise that they’ve changed their answer while you were typing yours out, so now there’s something else for you to address.

And it irritates you.

So what I propose to the Fluther jellyfish gods is that when someone is editing an answer of theirs, those who are already answering will somehow be notified that they are in the midst of editing it. An idea I had was that we’d see the whole answer pulsing a light transparent green. It’s noticeable enough to users who’re typing their answers out, yet it’s not glaringly distracting.

Would it be that difficult to implement? I mean, after all, we already do have our real-time response system.

Would love to hear opinions on this.
