Do you have a daily routine?

Asked by J0E (13172points) October 19th, 2009

I’m a very routine oriented person. Every morning it goes something like this:

6:30 – wake up, go to bathroom.
6:32 – pour bowl of cereal, glass of OJ
6:40 – Take a shower
6:50 – Get dressed
6:55 – Make some coffee
7:00 – Pack up backpack
7:05 – Fill travel mug and water bottle
7:10 – Get in car and leave

That’s just my morning routine. Do you have routines? What are they? Or do you just wing it?

Yeah, I pretty much do exactly the same thing in the same order every morning.
6:30 wake up, 3 sh’s, drink lots of water.
6:55 get dressed.
7:00 walk dog
7:15 make breakfast, eat breakfast while making and packing lunch.
7:45 brush teeth
8:00 get kid dressed and ready.
8:15 get in car and leave.

That’s just the beginning. Truth is that I could probably break down every spare minute of every weekday this way. About the only variation is the route I take home from work. I try to vary this. I would vary the route in too, but I often don’t have time for that. Also, my wife and I sometimes alternate cooking and doing dishes or playing with the child, so there’s some “variety” there.

My schedule each day is different, so I don’t really have a routine. But I do tend to do the same things at the same time each day, like eat and exercise.

I wing it. Everyday is different, so there’s not much constant I can do.

This is one of those questions I don’t feel comfortable answering on the Internet. Maybe I watch to much TV.

I am a very routine oriented person; I love having a day-to-day schedule in order to (I feel) get the most out of each day. While my weekdays are very structured, my weekends are my “wing-days” where I scrap, the diet, routine and yoga and do what everyone should do on those two glorious days a week: HAVE FUN!

Well, my weekdays go a little like this:

6:00am – Wake-up
6:15am – Get-up
6:15–6:30 – Shower
6:30–7:00 – Do my hair/make-up
7:00–7:45 – Eat Breakfast/Make Lunch/ Watch a bit of the News
7:45–8:30 – Commute to work
8:30–12:00 – Work! Work! Work!
12:00–1:00 – LUNCH! (Sometimes a random errand or two)
1:00–5:00 – Work! Work! Work!
5:00–5:45 – Commute back home
5:45–6:00 – Get changed and set up for Yoga
6:00–7:00 – Yoga <3 (Favorite part of my day!)
7:00–9:00 – Clean up after Yoga/get into comfies/eat dinner/watch a bit of tv
9:00 – Get ready for bed
9:15 – In bed reading (whatever book I have on the go at that moment)
10:00 – Lights out!

Mon, Wed and Fri are grocery day so everything is bumped up by about half an hour and my 2 hours of relax/leisure time 7–9 is down to about 1.5 hours.

Every second Thursday is my pet snake, Bob’s, bath/food and clean towel day! He loves his baths ^_^

Wednesday is laundry day, but since its only me I just do one load a week, so that’s simple.

Those are my main parts of each day. I have JUST started taking ahold of my life and getting into a healthy active lifestyle. I know it all seems so structured, but right now I need that. I feel that once I have this routine down to the point that it’s second nature then I can relax a little.

I’m my parent’s child that’s for sure! – LB

Wake up, potty, make husband’s lunch, back to bed for an hour or so, get up, get dressed, gather lunch items set out the night before, drive to work, work. Post-work is when things change. Then it depends on the day.

Not in the least. I think that’s my problem

Not since I stopped working full time. Even when I worked full time I was not very routinized (is that a word?). I worked retail for years, which had varying schedules to some extent, and then worked for the vendor were I had some variety to my work schedule, and then real estate.

Mostly I like a slow start in the morning. I hate having to jump out of bed, shower and leave. I like to eat, then shower, do some things around the house and then go out to work or run errands. I don’t mind getting back home late.

@Judi Darn you pesky kids and that dog! You’ve caught on to my plan, with a few more questions like this one and this one, my plan to become the worlds greatest pick-pocket would have been complete!

@gussnarp ; so sorry I foiled your evil plans! ~

Different things happen on according to what day of the week it is, but the only constant is wasting time. A lot of time.
