What are some good sites for keyboard (piano) tabs?

Asked by hookecho (958points) October 19th, 2009

I can only find guitar and bass tabs for popular music 1960’s – present. are there similar resources for keyboard/piano “tabs” or even sheet music?

Not to my limited knowledge…you might be better off going to the library and picking up a Fake book. If you know chords, that would probably work fine; there are books on everything from popular Rock and Roll music of the 50s to popular Broadway tunes to popular Easy Listening standards to popular Jazz standards. Go! Shoo! The library awaits. :D

Unfortunately, not a lot of websites these days have a lot of resources for songs that are pre-60’s or not particularly popular. That’s one of the downsides of the Internet: popular things are widely available (sometimes too much so) but more obscure things are made even more obscure.

Instead of trying to find tabs, look for books of sheet music. A little searching on music websites (or, even better, in music stores with knowledgeable staff) will probably yield some decent results. You can find a huge amount of stuff on the internet, but there are still some things that you have to go out and find the old-fashioned way.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I tend to use http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ a lot. You will need a copy of Guitar Pro though (easy to download with a torrent).

It houses loads of music and contains tabs/sheet music for most instruments in a song (including vocals). With guitar pro you can mute your parts which can help you practise the song, or single them out if you want to learn it.

Really helpful resource, and when used right it is perfect. There is an option in there where you can remove the tabs and add the left and right hands together to form sheet music. Also you can use it to write your own songs if you really wanted to :).
