What does it mean that I'm always indecent in my dreams?

Asked by shockrocks (534points) October 27th, 2009

Seriously… what does it mean that I’m naked in 9/10 of my dreams lately? It’s not just the classic “naked in public” kind of dream… just anywhere, even mundane day to day activities.

Is there some kind of message I should be getting about myself? lol

That’s interesting haha.

Are you either insecure about your body or happy with it as of late?

This might signify a subconscious longing for freedom. Freedom from rules, freedom from responsibilites and duties, etc.

I think it means you should be naked at all times.

1. You could be a Nymphomaniac but haven’t completely developed your talent yet.
2. Exhibitionism totally rocks and you’re ready to show the world the “real” you.
3. You’re extremely horny?
4. That dirty mind of yours works overtime, especially in your sleep. Just imagine if you were a sleepwalker in your birthday suit and the stories your neighbors could tell.

@jfos I guess there could be improvements, but nothing that bothers me extensively.

@ragingloli interesting… I have been pretty stressed out lately

@ everyone else….. nice! maybe I should just go with it!

i knew this one chick in high school that had dreams like that all the time. now 7 years later i saw her the other day and she had become some kind of an S&M mistress… just saying…

It could also be an idea for a new avatar?

fiendxxxclub's avatar

@jfos LOL! This is a must!

@shockrocks: Nakedness and indecency are not the same. You talked about mundane activities; I always look for the metaphor in my dreams or the emotions I have when I awaken.

And think about why you used the word “Indecent.”

shockrocks's avatar

@gailcalled very insightful! thanks, that helped a lot!

Also, have you been hiding behind any charades or falsehoods?

If so, it could be your subconscious wanting to be naked, i.e. to just be yourself…

Dreams don’t have to have any meaning. If you don’t feel you know what it means, it probably has not much meaning for you. If it suggests something to you, then that’s it. But one thing is certain: you are the only person who can possibly divine what your dreams mean. No one else can, and if they say they can they are not to be trusted.

You are probably veeling vulnerable and “exposed” in real life.

I think the dreams stem from the fact that nudity, in general, is awesome. Let’s face it: being naked is way better than being clothed.

I’m reading a book called The History of Last Nights Dream By Roger Kamenetz… might be worth a look. And I would say it’s more about how you feel and probably a lot to do with the specifics…

Good answer Judi. There are many more questions to be asked. Is everyone else clothed? Who else is there? How do you feel about it in the dream? Are you aware of it throughout? Do you have a desire to change it? Are you young and “in the market”, seeking encounters or partnering? Have you recently undertaken a path that is risky and unknown? What is the feeling of the dream? Is there any overall feeling, such as anxiety or sensuality? Are you confident and focused and directed? All of these questions can reveal what this exposed state may mean, including the desire to be noticed, understood or loved, or feelings of vulnerability, freedom, revelation, or sexuality. Dreams are our inner dialogue, our ordering of our world in moving pictures, or some may say, a spiritual experience. That is why it is not uncommon for people to be naked in dreams. It is an intimate experience.

That happens a lot in my dreams too. For me (and maybe you) it means I care too much about what other people think of me. How I look, act, etc.
