What’s he into?
Would he enjoy a poker chip set, a massage, a brewery tour, a play or concert, a trip sky diving, jewelery, cooking classes…

I don’t believe in limiting gifts for men to watches, sports, electronics, and tools. He’s a person with hopefully a wide range of interests.

My dad is really hard to buy for. Last year I got him a gift certificate to his favorite resturant for Christmas. He loved it. One year I got him a Nerf gun. He had so much fun shooting foam bullets at everyone on Christmas morning! He was just like a kid!

New lingerie and a door lock?... Materials are so overrated.

What are these men to you? Husband, brother, father, friend, cousin…?
And how much are you willing to spend on these guys? Are we looking for $20 gifts? $60 gifts $200 gifts?

Things I’d love (But never expect to get as a gift) would be decent car (Most things would be an upgrade from a 97 minivan), an mp3 player, or some new glasses (or contacts. oohh)
Other things I’m looking to get at the moment would be a new mouse and keyboard, and some decent earbud headphones.

One gift my brother loves to give, being such a culinary genius, is cookbooks. I think I’ve gotten 2 from him, and I know he gave a few to my mom and to my sister.
edit: That is to say, actual cookbooks you get from the store. Not that he makes his own. Though that would be a good idea, he should try that. Help pay off some student loans.

Does he like wine/beer? Is there a place where he lives where he can make your own wine/beer? I got my Dad (who has everything) a 150 dollar gift certificate, so, he could make his own wine.

He loved it.

Beer of the month club?

Men are pretty simple. I’d be happy with socks, pants, shirts.

Do they like video games?
A price range would be helpful as well.

Looks like you left off “the porn thing” from your list.

Experiences make better gifts than “stuff”, but that depends to some degree on who the recipient is. If boyfriend or husband, then get creative with an experience. If it’s your cousin Elmer, then Etymotic makes some nice high-end earbuds for iPods.

These guys are brothers, dad, and my bf. I’m looking to spend between $200—$300 They all love beer, brothers are into motocross and surfing, dad is retired ex-military, bf is engineer and into experiences more than anything i think but he loves Alton Brown

Get him an hour of Massage.

Why not give him what he really wants? You. Give the most priceless gift that you can…your whole heart, your whole self. If he wants something different than that from you then is selling himself and you short.

Likeradar's avatar

@noraasnave That’s nice and all, but I’m giggling just imagining how my BF would react if for Christmas he got… me!

haha!!! that’s very cute. I had a friend do that once, she wrapped herself in a big red bow. He knows about that story though…i would feel like i was copying if I did it. He is like a big kid too though so the nerf gun might be funny. We did a water balloon fight for about 3 hours one Saturday, and for halloween we dressed up like G.I. Joes

Wet-shave set. The things I would do for a shave every day that didn’t leave cuts or irritation all over my neck…

OpryLeigh's avatar

@Likeradar I’m imagining the same thing…except MY boyfriends face when all he gets is ME for Christmas

I like to give and get books.
As others mentioned, therapeutic spa massage.
If they like to cook outdoors, this book is great: The Cook’s Illustrated Guide To Grilling And Barbecue . They go over all the tests behind the recipes, I think engineers would like that.

Likeradar's avatar

@Leanne1986 Before you edited I was thinking my bf would have a totally different expression on his face if he got me and you for Xmas. ;)

Snarp's avatar

@RedMosquitoMM has a great suggestion. A great gift should be something someone really wants but would never buy for themselves. If someone bought me a Badger shave brush and mug and some fancy shave cream/soap, maybe a razor and brush stand and a fancy handle for my razor cartridges, that would be an awesome gift.

Sarcasm's avatar

@RareDenver What a shitty invention. At the end, you have to take it apart and wash it out. That honestly ruins anything good that it did for you.

RareDenver's avatar

@Sarcasm I guess you would know, lol

@Likeradar That’s why I edited! I saw what I had written originally and thought it sound wrong for many reasons!!!
