They ran out of ideas years ago. I would say that they are taking a nap.

I just double checked.. It wasn’t a nap. Hollywood has passed away.

Not at all. Disney is just about to release a brand new animated version of A Christmas Carol!

Oh yeah. It seems like they’re reviving old stuff like Macgyver and Star trek. And I guess nothing else made by marvel is interesting / hasn’t been done before. Oh who wants to bet the next big thing will be video games. Any takers on MW2 or WoW? And apparently theres going to be a Facebook movie.

No. There are plenty of good original movies still being made even though it seems as though everything is a remake. Hollywood is a business and they know the power of branding, brand loyalty etc… They’re raking the money in on remakes and benefiting from a lower risk venture. Some remakes are good, some suck, life goes on.

In the entertainment field, there is no such thing as a “new” idea. If you were to study the Greek plays and other historical entertainment, you would find the very same ideas in the ancient times that you find in modern films.

I think there are some new ideas coming. I’ve heard a little talk about Avatar and it’s supposed to be unlike anything we’ve seen. Also “9” looks different than a typical Hollywood movie.

It’s the economical climate. It’s safer to finance a remake, sequel or to place a book on the big screen than it is to risk new ideas.
