Why do I get more "great answers" for posting a link to a competely unrelated funny video than for thoughtfully answering the question?

I’ve noticed this phenomenon for a while. It’s pretty ubiquitous, it seems. Jokes tend to get more lurve than helpful, insightful, real answers. Why is that? And is do you think that’s how the site should work?
