Why are you asking? Edit to add: I wouldn’t want to give someone advice on this if they are trying to starve themselves

I have been on a liquid nutritional drink diet for months now to give my digestive system a break for health reasons. I am always starving! Always want food and can actually feel my body eating itself so to speak. If you don’t have a medically good reason not to eat…then why in the hell would you not want to?

I think it probably differs from one person to another that people and go on hunger strike for example lose their desire for food after a certain point. You could watch the movie hunger that came out last year to witness this. It’s set in a prison in Northern Ireland where members of the Ira go on a hunger strike to protest britain’s occupation of Northern Ireland.

I have a couple of friends who have fasted and they said that by dinner time, they weren’t hungry any more.

Personally, I think I would end up chewing off my own arm.

@ gemiwing only asking cus i was wondering. eaten loads so was gonna not bother eating tomorrow so wanted to know at what point i’d stop feeling hungry. I know its not completely healthy but figured its just one day so what harm can it do really?

@xshortiex Unfortunately, the body doesn’t work that way. Each day is each day so skipping eating for a day won’t help you with weight. The problem with doing it once is that it can become a habit quickly. Plus, you will put stress on your organs by not eating and the damage can become permanent.

Instead of not eating- just eat healthy foods to ‘make up’ for your overeating today. Have a day of salads where you see what interesting combinations you enjoy. Or make it a day to explore vegetables that you haven’t tried. Research some recipes and turn it into a game instead of a punishment for your body.

I agree with @gemiwing that not eating tomorrow won’t help you if this is a weight issue. The best thing you can do to be healthy tomorrow if you want to offset overeating today is to do things that will make your metabolism run faster. You should eat a nutritious breakfast tomorrow and emphasize vegetables and lean protein over carbs and sugar, and continue eating several small meals throughout the day. You can also do at least a half hour of cardio. Not eating will just depress your metabolism, because your body will think that you are starving and it will try to use less energy.

To answer the first question, I’ve gone without eating for a while either because of being busy or lazy, and I’ve done it just in a science experiment kind of way to see how I would react. In my experience, the hunger comes and goes. Being less active will make you less hungry. If I don’t eat anything for most of day 1, and then go to bed, I don’t feel hungry for most of day 2. Doing this will probably make you feel exhausted and shitty, and after a while, your stomach gets a kind of empty, burning feeling, and the first foods you eat afterward might make you feel sick.
