Can Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 run on Windows 7?

Asked by mathwhiz1 (264points) December 16th, 2009

I recently got a new computer and it has Windows 7 on it. It works great, but I’m having a problem with one of my games, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. Whenever I try to play RCT2, it totally locks up at random times without any warning, and sometimes I can’t even play this game for even five minutes without it locking up on me. My only choice is to reboot the computer. I absolutely love this game, but it’s getting really annoying now. Then, I found this on a website:

“The game runs on Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP. It also works on Windows Vista, and it will work on Windows 7 when the final client is released.”

Has the final client been released yet?

Isn’t there an XP compatibility mode in Windows 7? Have you tried that?

I just had a quick check and I’m afraid that I couldn’t find the final client for it anywhere, so I would assume that it is still in production.

But the above suggestion by @anon is brilliant, you should give that a go.
