Is there a Fluther comment reply link for '@user'?

Asked by jaytkay (25810points) December 28th, 2009

When I reply to another comment, I copy the user name and type ’@’ before I paste it into my reply.

Am I missing some obvious easy way to do that?

If you type ”@” into the answer box, a list of all of the users who have commented and the user who created the question will show up, and you can just click the user you wish to respond to.

Yes, when you hit the @ key, a list should pop up with participants names. Just click on the one you want and it magically appears.

Doesn’t work on the iPhone
tho.

Obviously I’m a slower typer :)

OK! Thanks @Fly and @Buttonstc! It works!

Don’t even have to click it, just type @ and the beginning of the username, and the first matching user in the list is selected. Type as much as you need to to get the one you want selected, then hit tab. So in this thread if I want to reply to @Fly all I do is type @ f tab.

Also, next to the flag option there’s a paragraph signature that if you click gives a new address in your address bar. You know in case you want to link something back to that exact comment.

The list doesn’t always work. Sometimes in a long thread you see only a partial list when you type the @, but when you add the first letter of the name, it comes up.

If you put something ahead of it (such as the two hyphens for whispering), it doesn’t work, but if you do the @ + name first and then add the two hyphens, you get the right result.

But this doesn’t work if you’re using the iPhone unfortunately.
