How can I download iPhone Software 3.1.2?

Asked by bhec10 (6458points) February 4th, 2010

Basically I want to have 3.1.2 again.

I downloaded the iPhone OS 3.1.3 but my phone won’t work because it was unlocked and now it isn’t anymore. I tried searching on apple.com but didn’t manage to find it.

Can someone help me find it on Apple’s website or download it through another website please?

Thanks in advance

There are links to download OS 3.1.2 for all 3 iPhone models here: http://www.blogsdna.com/5116/iphone-os-3-1-2-released.htm

I don’t have an iPhone, but I know that when updates happen, iTunes usually prompts you to update to the latest version upon plugging in your iPod, so I would guess that this might be the same for iPhone. Do you have the latest version of iTunes? I believe it is 9.0.3.

@njnyjobs I managed to download the .ipsw file but when I double click it nothing happens . Any idea why?

@buckyboy28 Yeah I have 9.0.3. and I pressed it without paying any attention.

is it the right OS for your Iphone? (gen 1 vs 3G vs 3Gs)

Option click on restore inside iTunes. It will ask you for the ipsw to use.

@johnpowell You mean the “Restore” button on the Summary tab of my iPhone? If that’s the button you mean then it’s not letting me option clicking it.

@johnpowell Oh wait, is that pressing ctrl, shift or cmd while left clicking? Or is it something else?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but this has never happened to me before

Ok I managed to get all those 3 keys wrong. It’s the “alt” key. I managed to select the ipsw file now! Hope this works :)

Thanks @johnpowell !
