Are there any good home remedies for getting musty smells out of clothes?

I shop at thrift stores a lot and find that I’m having a hard time getting the musty smell out of clothes with standard detergent and a few wash cycles.

Are there any tried-and-true home remedies I should try? Maybe adding baking soda or vinegar to the wash cycle?

I looked through the previous questions and one mentioned using vodka in a spray bottle for some fabrics. Does that really work and could I put that in the wash? An ideas on proportions I should use, if that’s the case?

P.S. Please, no Febreze. I absolutely hate the smell of that stuff
