How do you add the 'gun shot' special effect in Final Cut Express?

Please help me out!

I’m new to final cut and I want to make a shooting scene. I saw someone who used an animated bullet to hit someone. How did they do this?!?!

I think the person who did the bullet, made that animation with another program & imported it.

This sounds like a job for After Effects. Read Video Copilot tutorials. They are the best for learning after effects.
