Why are men''s testicles located between their legs?

Why would this location have any advantages at all? If you think of evolution, wouldn’t this be the worst spot? Every time a man gets in a fight and the opponent swings his weapon or leg upward the target’s legs provide a natural funnel affect, directing the blow right to the testicles. Wouldn’t somewhere else be a better location?
