Is my birth control making me sick?

Asked by tney07 (59points) May 22nd, 2010

I just started Loestrin 24 this past Sunday (5/16). Monday is when the nausea started. It begins when i wake up and goes off and on all day long. I know the pill can cause nausea, but I’ve been on other pills before, and they NEVER made me feel this way. I have been taking the pill in the morning with some food. I’m going to keep taking it because I know the pill is probably the cause of my sickness, but i just want to make sure. Do you think my pill is causing me to be sick?

Yes, the hormone levels are doing that to you, just like with pregnancy you get morning sickness. Go through at least a month and see if your body adjusts to the levels. If not, call the doctor and have her change your prescription.

Ok thank you.
I have another question. I missed a pill Saturday (5/22), so I took two the next day like it says to do. Saturday night my boyfriend and i had sex. The next evening i started a “breakthrough” i think. I only bled a little with discharge. It was brown then light pink. It only lasted a couple hours. Did this happen because i missed a pill? I’ve taken birthcontrol before and i’ve missed pills but it never made me “breakthrough bleed” before. Then again it is a different pill.

With Loestrin, breakthrough bleeding is fairly common. You might want to keep an eye out for symptoms of bladder and yeast infections as well. If you get headaches or chest pains, call your doctor immediately.

Smoking and birth control is not a good thing.
