How do I know which action figures to invest in!

Asked by mrrich724 (8547points) August 8th, 2010

I recently went online to buy some Halo (from the XBox classic Halo 1–3) action figures, and I saw that some of the older ones are going for $50 – $90 USD a piece! I decided that I might like to collect a few and store with my comic collection to hopefully accrue value down the line. . . But not all of them increase in value.

How would you go about deciding which ones to buy and save?

I’m certainly no expert, but I imagine your best bet would be to buy an assortment and hold on to them for a while. By diversifying your portfolio, you’ll be ready for future changes: perhaps one character will come back in a later game and its value will increase.

FWIW, I intended to submit a snarky answer, but then I realized that investing in something tangible for the long-term is probably a smarter idea than giving your money to investment banks to invest in magically creating more money. So good luck!

The ones you won’t mind having if they never gain enough value.

Mc Farlane figures were a pretty big deal, not sure how they fair now. I remember their sports collection to be popular.
