Help finding a video program?

Asked by hungerforpizza (247points) August 13th, 2010

I once had a program that did the following actions but I can’t find it again.

You drag and drop a .vob file into the program interface. The program then allows you to clip and edit the file. When you save the “project,” it quickly converts to .mpeg without losing any of the video or audio quality. The .vob files I used were directly ripped from a DVD; very high quality.

I use this program to easily edit and convert DVD files to be used in Sony Vegas. Sadly, I can’t remember the program name and wouldn’t recognize it if I saw it… any ideas or recommendations?

If you do a google search for ”.vob to .mpeg converter”, you get plenty of returns of programs that do similar things. You may probably need to add “free” to the search to find the free ones. Maybe you will find the name of your program when looking at the search items.

You are looking for a video file converter??
I know a free and efficient one that I use these days, but it’s Korean…........perhaps you could try it? :) I’d be happy to help you.

MPEG Streamclip does what you want plus a whole lot more. You can export to just about any format and codec you can imagine. Note: tt won’t let you rip from copy protected DVD’s. Plus it’s free. Check it out at http://www.squared5.com/
Try HandBrake if you’re looking to rip from copy protected DVD’s. (Of course, it’s illegal to copy others material, blah blah blah).
