Did Noam Chomsky really write this?

Asked by rexpresso (922points) September 12th, 2010

First time I saw this was on a Facebook note. It was in Portuguese.

I tried to find an English version, but all I could find was this (scroll down on the page): http://is.gd/f7ZCL

Now, I happen to have a hunch that this English text is actually a translation from the Portuguese text.

So, is this from Chomsky or not?

Thanks a lot!

It quite possibly is. Look toward Chomsky’s works Media Manipulations and Manufacturing Consent.

It sure sound like him. It perfectly describes what has happened since Regan was elected and progress began its decline into the present situation.

Sounds perfectly plausible and Chomskyesque.

Well, the translation is a bit rough around the edges, but the basic tenets put forth would lead me to believe that this was written either by Chomsky himself or someone who believes as he does and is as blunt as he in expressing it.

The article sounds exactly like the Tea Party campaign. Karl Rove may be an enemy of Chomsky’s ideas about government but certainly follows his philosophical ones.
