@Allie, there was a study done about it, which of course I cannot find right now. I heard about it from a math teacher at school. Basically, people gravitate towards it because it seems EXTRA random. It is odd, and prime, as are both of its digits, and numbers with sevens in them appeal to the subconscious because it is considered a lucky number in many cultures, especially due to gambling etc.

yes. I was curious if people would try and guess what I was thinking. Or if they would try and make a guess that would show what they were about (famous numbers, numbers with scientific meaning etc.)
Incidentally the number was 42 which I am sure everyone knows a popular story behind.

Actually Bri L, as I was reading my way down I was going to guess 42. Too bad you gave it away before i had a chance to answer.

@ sndfreQ- I choose my number because it combines cold numbers and humor. I felt it represented my personality in that I can work both sides of the equation sometimes. AND, your number was actually my third choice behind avagadros number 6.02214199×10(to the 23rd)
It has become what number were you thinking of and that is obviously more difficult but I think it was 42
