What is your personality type?

Asked by PoiPoi (274points) July 20th, 2008

This question is talking about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. In this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-Briggs_Type_Indicator, it shows 16 personality types. Which do you think which type describes you perfectly or nearly? Give me a small explanation of why it fits, or maybe doesn’t fit you. I’m an INFP (a.k.a. – The Dreamer). I like daydreaming and dreaming a lot. I always think of our distant, uncertain future; hoping it might be as utopian as those retro-futuristic, sci-fi stories, and movies.

TYPE A! Too much to read, I’ll use the old method!

When I first took this in the ‘70s, I was an INTP.

I’m proud to be an ISFP, aka The Peacemaker!

(I’m dating an ESTJ)

(To answer the other part of the question… I do fit my type description. Particularly: ”Devoted to those in their inner circle, INFPs guard the emotional well-being of others, consoling those in distress. Guided by their desire for harmony, INFPs prefer to be flexible unless their ethics are violated. Then, they become passionate advocates for their beliefs. They are often able to sway the opinions of others through tact, diplomacy, and an ability to see varying sides of an issue.”)

I take Myers-Briggs tests whenever I get bored because the results are always a surprise. They vary drastically depending on my mood. There isn’t a single letter that I get every time.

That, macbean, is quite intriguing.

I can never figure who I am.

A wiki article isn’t going to solve what years of constant introspective can’t.

Well, its not a wiki article you find out from. Its a very very long test that you can get from your psychiatrist/ologist.
There are versions online, but they aren’t as accurate.

I’m an ENFP. “ENFPs are initiators of change, keenly perceptive of possibilities. They energize and stimulate others through their contagious enthusiasm. They prefer the start-up phase of a project or relationship, and are tireless in the pursuit of new-found interests. ENFPs are able to anticipate the needs of others and to offer them needed help and appreciation. They bring zest, joy, liveliness, and fun to all aspects of their lives. They are at their best in situations that are fluid and changing, and that allow them to express their creativity and use their charisma. They tend to idealize people, and can be disappointed when reality fails to fulfill their expectations. They are easily frustrated if a project requires a great deal of follow-up or attention to detail.”

An ENFP, though the only thing that “expressed itself strongly” was the Intuitive trait.

The description is pretty spot on, though, for me—though I do love details.

All this from a crappy javascript test.

I’m an ENTJ. According to the wiki article, that’s a typical “Field Marshall”......so I guess Team Manager in a call center is quite appropriate…

ESTP all the way to the end :)

ENFJ, though I’ve never been sure…

sndfreQ's avatar

ENFP like Allie and Andrew…and an Orange in the “True Colors” test.

I’m also an INFP. I’ve taken the test many, many times over the years – just to see if it’s consistent – and I’ve never gotten a different result. This personality test describes me with accuracy like no other that I’ve taken. I was blown away when I looked up more detailed descriptions of INFPs on the internet. When I started reading posts written by other INFPs… I felt more at peace than I have in a very long time. We’re a rare type and it’s very normal for us to feel alienated. It was nice to see that other people like me actually exist.

ARRGH! ISTJ the most booooring personality. Ms Hardworking and Reliable like a draft horse. The secret is that when I get back to the stable, the monkey comes dancing out.

SeekerSeekiing's avatar

Me too! I’m an INFP!!!!! Always! I think I’m in good company! Yes, we are rare and we ‘look for ourselves…’ which used to confuse the heck outta the many guardians in my young life.

SeekerSeekiing's avatar

No, no galileogirl, I have ISTJ friends who help keep my feet on the floor! Sometimes, by standing firmly upon them, but thank God for ISTJ’s!

INTJ here.

I wanted to ask this question. Boo.

ISTJ, but rendered irrelevant by autism. Aspergers Syndrome overrides all of these criteria, or so I was told.
