ok so tom colicchio said on tonight’s top chef episode that there is “no blue food.” he seemed pretty adamant about it. btw, according to Tom, blueberries are “purple.”

Frosting can be blue.
Blue corn.
Bleu cheese.
Blue crab (but that changes color when it’s cooked).

There are blue potatoes, too.

Blue Grapes
Blue Plums
Chokecherries

I understand that they look purple but they do go by these names. I looked it up!

Blue food is often purply but most of the things mentioned above are pretty bluish, blue berries are blue on the outside, purplish on the inside. Blue corn is pretty darn blue. Red cabbage is a natural Ph indicator and can turn blue with the right acidity in a dressing.

To me blue cheese is more turquoise/green… And gross.

Tom had his head up his ass. Blueberries are a good straightforward midnight blue.
I’ve taught color theory. I know blue when I see it.
Fabio had his head up his ass when he told all those women that the yellow of the corn soup and the green of the chard would make blue if you put them together. Blue is a primary color and cannot be made out of two other colors. Blue and yellow make green. You can’t go backwards.
Fabio and the girls did put that spurious blue corn crust on the Chilean sea bass but
it turned tan. It was a gesture. It didn’t work.

I haven’t watched this season because Tom Colicchio ALWAYS has his head up his ass. He is just insufferable. Between him and Anthony Bourdain, I feel like I’m in a haberdashery, because of all the asshattery going on.

Also, in the commercials and little I’ve seen of this season, Padma seems majorly drugged. Or, she’s being forced to be “spunky,” instead of smoldering and serene like (I believe) she naturally is.

And blue cheese is DEF blue. I had some delicious cambozola last night, and noted to myself how blue it is.

So astute, tonedef! Good point about the bleu. Good call on poor Padma. I love Padma, and it took awhile, because her accent is so bizarre, like the corners of her mouth are paralyzed, but I love how something occasionally cracks her up in spite of the sultry loungey approach.
“Asshattery”, lol.
