Have you given your dog bones, like rib bones, for years and they're fine?

I am totally against giving dogs any kind of People-Food type bones. But do you do it and your dog/dogs are fine? I can imagine a dog like a German Shepherd being able to tolerate them more than a small dog but I don’t know.
