Is it safe traveling to Mexico with a food allergy?

I have a severe allergy to peanuts and all nuts. I have been planning to go to Cabo San Lucas for spring break and was wondering how safe I would be food wise. I have been looking at resorts thinking they may be safer, but i’d like to know if anyone who has a food allergy has had any trouble, etc..
