What is the best way to get rid of the smell of smoke?

My husband and I have started using our wood burning stove in our apartment now that it’s getting cold. But when I came home today I realized how much it makes our apartment smell. It is so strong. I opened the sliding door to help it air out, but I think it’s going to take more than that.

Also, once I do get rid of the smell how can we keep using our fireplace without it smelling bad all the time? Or should we just stop using it?
