How do I clean my electric stove?

I have an electric Hotpoint 4 top stove with a hood, the stove top is enamel and the burners themselves are metal and in a spiral shape.

The burners and underneath are pretty dirty, I tried soaking them in water overnight but got little effect. We are moving soon so I need to get them as clean as possible.
