Is Afghanistan bankrupting America?

Since 2002, the U.S. Government has sank some $56 billion dollars into Afghanistan, with very little to show for it. $29 billion dollars was spent on civillians, that cannot read, write or fire a rifle, to beef-up Afghan armed forces. Another $15 billion dollars spent on redeveloping the country. Question: did $56 billion dollars of our tax dollars just go to corruption in Afganistan and not for its intended purpose? And, since there is non-functional justice system in Afghanistan, is this the force that is driving civillians into the arms of the the Taliban? Is America just “spinning its wheels” and wasting money in this country?
