Do you still rent movies?

Asked by filmfann (52238points) January 16th, 2011

10 years ago, I rented lots of movies every week. When DVD prices dropped, and renting fee’s went up, I stopped renting, and just bought whatever I wanted to watch. I occasionally get burned on movies I would never watch again (Requiem For A Dream, I’m looking at you!). My friends would swear by NetFlix. I like the price structure of NetFlix, but for me watching movies is like ordering a meal at a restaurant: sometimes I am in the mood for meat, other times I want something light. I don’t want to be saddled with a movie I eventually want to watch, when I am in the mood for something else.
Leaving the grocery store this morning, I used a Blockbuster Express machine (which is like a Red Box), and rented a recent movie for just a dollar. It got me thinking: with all the video stores closing down, how many people still rent? Do you prefer NetFlix? Do you like the satellite or cable On Demand or PayPerView? Do you just buy it?
Inquiring minds want to know!
