What exactly is a Lipoma?

Asked by tigerlilly2 (1250points) January 20th, 2011

From my own understanding they are fatty tumors made up of cells manifesting in a particular area. They can become attatched to your muscles and grow to appear through your skin. My father has had several of them removed and they usually come back or multiply. His doctor said he is not sure what causes them. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge pertaining to Lipomas?
