HELP! How can I locate my missing iPod?

I had an iPod 32 GB, and it is the generation before the ones with a camera (I think 3rd gen). I was home alone, sitting at my dresser listening to music on my iPod while painting. I paused my music so I could go to the bathroom. My iPod was on my dresser, and when I came back I forgot to play the music again. About 15 min later I went to go turn on my music and the iPod was gone! I am more than 100 percent sure I did not take it off of my dresser, so I know it is not lost, but disapeared.

I do not have a app installed on it to locate my iPod. I need some GPS service that does not need to be installed on the iPod before it is lost/stolen. Does anyone know of a service I can use that will locate my iPod?

It must be in my house (my room) because I never left the house that day, and I was in my room for over 8 hours painting. I am sure it did not even leave my room! This is the most bizzare thing that has ever happened to me. I really really miss my iPod, and I need it back. :( I have torn my house apart looking for it, but I can honestly say that it have dissapeared into thin air!!
