Where on earth did the idea come from that Asians are sexual exotics?

I have heard this stereotype numerous times from numerous people. Mostly, I hear it in the media and it doesn’t make any sense to me. Where did the idea come from?

I’m not really sure what details I should have here since this idea seems out of left field to me.
