Do you or somone you know talk to their spouse like a child?

Maybe it is without even realizing it.
I notice people talking to their spouses like children all the time. Surprisingly enough more often than not, I see women doing this to their husbands and the husbands just go along. I find it disrespectful, degrading and frankly it embarasses me to be around a couple like this. Why does the spouse not speak up?
It seems it has become so common. What are your thoughts?
