How do I stop my leather jacket from smelling?

My mom just bought me a fake leather jacket about 2 weeks ago. I have only used it once until I realised that it smells like fish. Its really stinks and so after finding out that it smells I haven’t used it anymore, but I really want to use it because its really warm.
What can I do to stop the smell? Has this ever happened to you and if so what was the solution to the problem?
