What or who makes the ”Fashion Police” the voice of class and taste in dress?

Usually around award time (OK just about any time) you have all the pundits turning out to point out how this celeb or that created a fashion faux pas. To me I find it rather comical especially with a nation so caught up with sex and displays of flesh get bent out of shape because so-in-so showed up wherever in something sheer and revealing or with too much leg or mid riff showing. But I wonder what are those who are blasting celebs wearing? Are they walking out of the building looking as they are putting on the Ritz each moment they are seen in public? If not I think they should attend to their own glass house before tossing stones elsewhere no matter if it is at some pompous celeb or John Q on the street. What qualifications do they have to tell all of us what good or bad fashion is?
