So we have a limit on how much lurve we can give to a fellow Flutherite. What happens in this case?

A while ago I found out that each user can only ever give a total on 100 lurve to any other user. We receive 3 lurve points for every Great Question, and 5 for every Great Answer (provided that the lurver hasn’t reached their cap).
What if I’ve given a user 98 lurve, and I give them one more Great Answer? Do they only get 2 lurve?
What happens to the lost lurve?
