After natural birth, how long is a woman in the hospital for?

Once I have my son (it’s a boy!) how long will I be in the hospital for? If overnight, is my partner allowed to stay the night with me or will he have to leave? If for some reason I have a c-section, how long before I go home?
Additional information: I live in the US. NY to be exact.
