Anything that you could take for an acidic stomach besides Tums and milk?

I plan on seeing my doctor this week? I am hoping to get on something for what I think is a stomach ulcer. Is there anything over the counter that I could take that would be a bit stronger (than milk and Tums) in the meantime.
