(NSFW) Women who trim (but not shave) their bikini - how does that not itch?

I know that some women trim their bikini area. And if I’m understanding what they’re doing correctly, it seems right at that length were it itches like mad if you’re growing it out from shaving. So does it itch? Or am I missing something?
