How should I remove a wooden object hot glued to another wooden object?

I hot glued a small wooden feather to a wood box and well….I don’t like it!
How do I remove this without damaging the feather?The box,I don’t care about. The feather is very thin and carved from tupelo wood.I am afraid to use a heat gun as it will damage the paint finish on the carving.
Can I put this in the oven to melt the glue? What temp? XD
