Why do some people leave their Christmas tree up all year long?

In my city each year, some people leave their artifical Christmas trees up year ‘round. Are they hoping Santa Claus will see their tree in July and leave them an extra Christmas present? Also, having blue icesicles hanging off a roof in mid-90s temperature is ridiculous.Question: why do people leave their Christmas tree and decorations up all year? Am I missing something?
