Do you or anybody you know of have a memory foam mattress, and do you or they like it?

A friend of mine has a Tempurpedic (memory foam) mattress and I was laying on it to test it and it felt really nice. Firm yet soft…..I am going to be in the market for a new mattress and am considering a cheapo version.

Do you or anybody you know have a memory foam mattress? Do you or do they like it? Would you recommend it?

Is it a name brand one like Tempurpedic or a cheap version? If it is a cheap version, is that just as good as the name brand one?

Is it on a platform or is it on a box spring?

I see a previous Fluther question on this topic where someone suggested buying a really firm regular mattress and putting a memory foam topper on top – I guess that’s another idea.
