Should I focus on school or play a sport?

Asked by Harrow185 (298points) May 20th, 2011

I’m a senior in high school next year, the most important thing is getting myself in to college, of course. But I’ve also enrolled myself in other extracurricular activities since my freshman year. I’ve been playing division 2 field hockey, we’ve won the state championship every year, so as you can tell it’s a huge commitment, and a lot of work. I’ve come to the argument with myself where I don’t know if I should play or not next year. I’m not the star player, and I don’t really enjoy the sport all that much. I was thinking of getting a job, so I could save up some money and get new hockey equipment instead of running and getting in shape all summer for field hockey. My grades also aren’t eye catching, they’re average, without field hockey I would be able to focus on them a lot more. But with field hockey, I would be able to get into a pretty decent college with some sort of scholarship. I can’t decide what I want to do, so I figured other opinions would help me out. Thank you for your time! :)
