Do you ever purchase photography for interior artwork?

Asked by Photosopher (1397points) June 25th, 2011

Sorry, I have so many questions about your interest in art photography. I’d love to hear your detailed perspectives and any other comments you’d care to share.

Main question, what styles of art photography interest you the most, i.e. landscapes, nature (flowers), journalism, vintage/historical, abstract, specialty (cows, rotting fruit, architectural…), color vs b&w?

Do you ever purchase framed photography artwork for interior display?

Are you a collector, frequenting established art galleries for their monthly openings, specifically to purchase high priced works from known artists? Are you on their mailing list?

Do you go to annual art fairs in your area to purchase unknown artist photography? If so, as an art fair buyer, would you prefer to purchase the print only (cheaper), or have it already framed and ready to hang?

Do you purchase photography from art photo web sites?

Does it make a difference to you if the photography is signed and numbered, signed only, signed on front or back, not signed at all?

Do you care if the work is limited edition original print/giclee, or if it’s a reproduction lithograph?

How deeply do you care if the artwork is collectable, archival, and sure to increase in value over the years as opposed to simply providing limited time interior display, to be trashed within your lifetime?

Thanks in advance to all who contribute!
