Could someone help me understand the this strange behavior (inside for details)

So usually I have a few close guy friends and then the rest just sort of ignore me, and I ignore them. I’ve never been ugly really, but I’m not the type whos so beautiful that she catches guys attention. But lately a ton of the guys in my class have randomly started complimenting me on how pretty my hair is and how I look really hot today etc. I have not really changed anything about my look lately, so I’m really confused. Can someone explain to me why this might be. I’m kind of worring that someone might be spreading untrue rumors about me that might be making guys suddenly interested in me. Any thoughts and/or advice?
