How well fine-tuned or keen is your situational awareness?

We do not live in a genteel world, like it or not, many will make merchandise of you if you give them the opportunity. Off that fact, how well are you at using your situational awareness? I might have the right to go where I please and wear what I want but depending on the situation, time and place I don’t exercise it. I may feel I can wear the color of a rival gang if I am visiting a friend I know is in a known gang neighborhood. Steadfastly and stubbornly trying to exercise my right to wear it could at best get me beat like a dog, or worse, sent to the morgue, not to mention placing in danger anyone with me. If I know I am going to leave a friends house late and will have to park 30 or so yards from his/her house I would know not to wear or flash expensive jewelry.

Some people want to try to prove they are not scared, or influenced by the so-called bad guys, but being stubborn or not knowing what you can wear or not wear, and when or where you can be or not be inebriated can get you robbed, beaten, or killed. How well are you in knowing what to do, or not to do, or wear based on who or what is around you? Or do you just take it that chance is chance and no matter what you do or fail to do has no effect on increasing your chance to be victimized or not?
