Nuvaring scheduling/safety question.

Last week I removed the previous ring about 24 hrs late. Today I inserted the new ring about 12 hrs late. (Late relative to the expected times on the schedule I’d been on thus far.) Does that delay mean I’m not protected against pregnancy right now and I need to wait a week before having sex without a condom? (As for my period, it is still going now, because it started, as it usually does, a few days after I removed the previous ring.)
