What is the worst mistake you have ever made in your life?

A fellow deputy U.S. Marshal friend of mine stated this was the worst mistake he ever made in his life.

We had worked together at the Marshal Service for five years. I knew that he and his wife were having marital problems. We had discussed it many times. He told me that he could no longer tolerate his wife’s emotional outbreaks, during her “change of life”. She was in her mid-forties. He finally filed for divorce and was left a lonely man. He admitted that this was the worst mistake he had ever made in his life. That, he should have been more understanding of his wife.

About two years later, my deputy friend died in a head-on collision accident. He never attempted to reconcile with his wife, before his death. This was the worst mistake that he ever made in his life. Question: we all make mistakes. Some mistakes are more important than others. So, what is the worst mistake you have ever made in your life?
