Which way should my elephant face?

I was given an elephant as a reward for a job well done at work. I had it displayed on my desk not necessarily facing any which way. I brought a woman who reports to another manager over to my desk to go over something critical to her job and she insisted that I turn the elephant so that his behind was facing the door otherwise I would be bringing myself and my family misfortune.

I have looked online and everything I read is contradictory. Where should an elephant really face to bring good luck? Behind to the door, trunk to the door, trunk facing you, another way all together?

I am actually fairly superstitious and would feel comforted having the right answer.
