How to stop hidden ads from blasting through the speakers while surfing online?

Sometimes, while surfing online, I’ll come across these annoying, hidden ads, where I can’t discover where the noise source is coming from. I’ve looked all over the page but no dice. The only way to stop it is to close the tab or browser.

I’m assuming there’s no way to put a stop to it?
